I contacted the Marriott Bonvoy Rewards support line to inquire about a status challenge for the Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite. Once I could reach a representative and ask about the status challenge, they informed me that If I could complete 16 paid nights at Marriott hotels within 90 days, I would be upgraded to Platinum Elite. I didn't need to show proof of my IHG One status which surprised me, but I was ready to if I it was something that I. needed to do. Once the status challenge requirements were met, I was upgraded to Platinum Elite. I received the status upgraded around 48 hours after my last Marriott stay prior to the status completion. I will warn you that the status challenge requirements can not be combined with other Marriott promotions ( i.e., Double nights promotions). You can enrolled into promotions, but only the paid nights will count towards the challenge.

I asked earlier this year as I was going to move to Kazakhstan. I was told my request was denied and to contact them again after I've flown with Air Astana a few times. I did email them again recently after having flown Air Astana. They asked for a copy of my Senator card and my flight statement for the last 6 months. A week later they granted both my wife and I (she's also Senator) Gold Status with Nomad Club, with a validity matching our Senator one (means we are Nomad Club Gold for another 18 months!
