Turkish Airlines Miles and Smiles
I went through the same hassle as the fellow flyer's comment made on August.26th. It was a struggle to hear back from them and took more than a month from late July to late August. They asked me for my gold card, flight record in the past 2 months, and passport copy. I got a match with the following caveats:
• The first 4 months of your Elite membership is considered as the trial period. Within this period, you are required to realize at least one Turkish Airlines international flight in which you gain miles.
• At the end of the trial period, if your membership account includes at least one Turkish Airlines international flight in which you gained miles, your Elite membership is prolonged for 8 months more.(i.e. it remains valid for 1 year in total after the match).
• If you reach 15,000 Status Miles in the international flights you will perform with Turkish Airlines in the first year of your Elite membership, your membership is extended for 1 more year (i.e. it remains valid for 2 years in total after the match).

Turkish Airlines Miles and Smiles
Emailed TK with copy of Asiana status. Explained I had just bought a business class ticket on TK consisting of 4 flights on TK and two code share flights on Copa. The flight distance was just over 20k miles and the ticket cost about $7000. Explained I wanted to gain status with a different Star Alliance member given Asiana's impending merger with Korean Air and planned exit from Star Alliance.
About three weeks later got response that request was denied.
TK's loss. My travel has gone up a lot in last year and is now predominantly in J and F.
I have realised I will make top tier with SQ and so will just credit all future premium class flights there having requalified for OZ for any economy flights I take in next year or so.
